Fugu Cosmid Library

The pufferfish, Fugu rubripes, is increasingly used as a model vertebrate for genome analysis because of its small genome size (400 Mb) and high homology with the human genome. A cosmid library, which has an average insert size of 40 Kb and consists of approx. 75 000 clones, has been constructed in Lawrist 4. It is available from Source BioScience LifeSciences as high density gridded filters for screening by hybridisation. The set consists of 4 large (22.2x22.2 cm) and 1 small (11x9 cm) double spotted filters.
