Gene Expression - Microarray Platforms
Source BioScience offers a wide range of microarray platforms
for your gene expression study.
Application
- Genome wide gene expression studies
- Low to medium sample throughput
- Pre-designed and custom arrays (including design)
available
Platforms
Affymetrix

Affymetrix is used by hundreds of pharmaceutical and
biotechnology companies as well as academic, government and other
non-profit research institutes to analyze gene expression and
genome organization.
SourceBioScience offers a high quality service using its
Affymetrix GeneChip® instruments and software tools as well as
customised proprietary software solutions.
Agilent

Agilent Microarray Solutions are based on an integrated,
flexible, open approach.
- Custom array design available - work with us to design an
optimised array design suitable for customised expression profiling
studies
- Pre-Selection strategy (PSS) for optimised array design for
expression profiling
- Budget multiplex arrays for standard expression studies using
human, mouse, rat and model organisms available
Source BioScience is using the complete integrated Agilent
Workflow Solution for sample QC, sample labelling, hybridisation,
scanning and data extraction (on the Agilent DNA microarray scanner
with Feature Extraction Software).
Illumina

The Illumina Beadarray platform offers a highly reproducible,
multiplex, efficient and cost-effective option for expression
studies.
Source BioScience uses Illumina recommended protocols and
reagents and utilises comprehensive QCs to ensure an efficient and
high quality service. Microarrays are then scanned using the
Illumina BeadArray Reader, and data extracted and normalised (as
required) using the Illumina GenomeStudio Software.
NimbleGen

NimbleGen Systems is a leading supplier of DNA microarrays.
NimbleGen's technology joins the ability to make oligo arrays with
high density, extreme flexibility, long isothermal probes, up
to 4.2 million features and diverse multiplex formats (3x720K,
4x72K, 12x135K).
- ChIP-Chip (Chromatin Immunopreicipitation on
microarrays) enables the following:
- Revealing gene regulation by determination of promoter
occupancy
- Rapid identification of precise binding sites of specific
DNA-binding proteins such as transcription factors, histones and
polymerases
- Mapping gene regulatory networks
- Extended data analysis available
- CGH (comperative genomic hybridization)
enables the following:
- Measures DNA copy number differences between a test and
reference genome
- Unbiased, genome-wide detection of CNVs down to ~1.4 - 5 Kb
resolution
- Rapid prototyping of custom array designs, which can include
whole genomes, single chromosomal regions, or multiple loci of
interest
- Complete DNA Methylation analysis service
enables the following:
- Monitoring of methylation events within the genome
- Comparing differential methylation pattern in cells, tissues or
tumor samples
- Extended data analysis available
Source BioScience routinely uses NimbleGen's software for image
extraction, data analysis and processing for the graphical display
and browsing of the datasets
Source BioScience
LifeSciences will...
- Assist you in the design of the arrays (where applicable)
- QC your total RNA and offer advice
- Process your samples, keeping you up to date with their
performance throughout
- Provide raw or analysed data (in conjunction with our
bioinformatics service), returning this on CD-R or via a secure web
server.
