Customized Macroarrays

Precise Tools for Various Hybridization Experiments
Source BioSciences custom-made Macroarrays provide fast and
easy access to high density colony, DNA, and protein arrays on
nylon or PVDF membranes, respectively. Arrays are printed using
fully automated systems with contact printing technology and solid
pins. Array size ranges from 7 cm x 11 cm to 22 cm x 22 cm.
Spotting density is up to 125 spots/cm² yielding up to 55,296 spots
per array.

Application
- cDNA Macroarrays are used to perform gene expression analysis
experiments applying robust and highly sensitive radioactively
labelled hybridization samples. cDNA Macroarrays can be re-used
several times.
- Colony Macroarrays are used for qualitative screening
experiments applying radioactively or non-radioactively labelled
hybridization samples. Colony Macroarrays can be
re-used several times.
- Protein Macroarrays are used for qualitative screening
experiments with antibodies, substrates and complete sera. Results
are acquired using radioactive or non-radioactive detection
methods.
Source BioScience Custom Macroarrays Can Be Ordered in
Two Ways:
- Full Service: Clone sets are provided by
Source BioScience and Macroarrays are produced according to
customer-defined parameters.
- Core Service: Plates comprising the material
to be spotted (including PCR fragments) are generated by the
customer and delivered ready-to-array to Source BioScience. After
quality control of customer's spotting plates (which includes
checks for cross-contamination, contamination with microorganisms,
and, if PCR products are used, determination of amount and purity
of DNA) the required number of arrays is produced.
Product Specifications
Spotting parameters, incl. spotting density, number of
duplicates, positive and negative controls and spotting pattern
will be discussed with Source BioSciences macroarray experts
and tailored according to the customer's needs. Macroarrays are
delivered together with a spotting pattern scheme and a spotting
list containing information about the position of clones on the
array. In the Full Service option, a comprehensive annotated clone
list is provided comprising vital information about printed clones
such as Source BioScience Clone ID, IMAGE ID, Genbank ID and
gene description. Also, recommendations for a complete experimental
procedure (labeling, hybridization, washing, and scanning) are
given.
Quality Control
Production of Source BioSciences Custom-made Macroarrays is
subject to stringent quality control. In the full service option,
each step of the production of spotting plates is monitored. Each
batch of macroarrays is quality controlled by hybridization using
vector primer or vector DNA. All quality assurance procedures are
electronically documented and available for our customers on
demand.
