Immunoprecipitation

Immunoprecipitation (or IP) is a technique designed to concentrate a protein or target of interest and remove it from a mixture of other proteins. The technique uses the affinity of antibodies for their target of interest and Protein A or G or L. and these proteins bound to agarose beads are used to pull-down the target protein/antibody immune complex which can then be studied further using SDS-PAGE electrophoresis and western blotting.
